Red Bull: Klopp’s Position Not Under Threat

Red Bull has firmly backed Jürgen Klopp, the former Liverpool manager, reaffirming that he will continue in his role as head of global soccer. This declaration comes in response to rumors suggesting his job might be at risk, which were dismissed as “nonsense” by a top executive.

Key Highlights

  • Jürgen Klopp has led Red Bull‘s soccer network since January 2025.
  • Reports indicated a lack of development at the clubs under his guidance.
  • Red Bull‘s CEO expressed satisfaction with Klopp’s performance.
  • Klopp is actively involved with coaches across the Red Bull network.

Klopp took over the reins at Red Bull‘s various clubs, including RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg, just over a year ago. His leadership has been a topic of discussion recently, especially after the Salzburger Nachrichten claimed that his future was uncertain due to perceived stagnation in club development.

In response, Oliver Mintzlaff, Red Bull‘s CEO for corporate projects and investments, categorically refuted these claims. “This is total nonsense and completely unfounded. On the contrary, we are extremely satisfied with Jürgen Klopp’s work,” Mintzlaff stated, emphasizing the confidence the organization has in Klopp.

Mintzlaff also highlighted that Klopp maintains constant communication with coaches and sporting directors throughout the Red Bull network. “We are convinced that he is the right man for this job. That’s where we are putting our full focus and our energy,” he added, showcasing the commitment to Klopp’s vision for the organization.

Since taking charge, Klopp has focused on advising and supporting coaches across Red Bull‘s clubs. Although some teams faced challenges prior to his appointment, there have been signs of improvement. Leipzig, for example, missed European qualification last season but is currently positioned fifth under coach Ole Werner.

Meanwhile, Salzburg leads the Austrian league after a difficult transition period, and the New York Red Bulls are looking to bounce back after missing the playoffs last season. Klopp’s influence is expected to play a pivotal role in the continued development and success of these teams moving forward.

As the soccer world watches closely, Klopp’s leadership at Red Bull remains a topic of great interest, and fans will be eager to see how the clubs evolve under his guidance in the coming seasons.
